A native of Somerset township, Mrs. Christy was the daughter of Isaac and Delilah Wisner Merritt, pioneer settlers in that locality, and was born August 20, 1851, in the house her father erected on the Lake road six miles east of Olcott, one of twelve children of whom she was the last surviving.
She was married in Lockport, December 4, 1873 to Thomas Jefferson Christy, having resided here a few years previously. Some time later they took up their home on the Lake road two miles east of Olcott where they lived 23 years until Mr. Christy’s death in 1915. Mrs. Christy had for many years been a member of the Olcott Methodist Episcopal church.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Grace Duncan of Appleton, and Mrs. Alva Ellnor (not sure of her last name – very hard to read) of the Lake road, east of Olcott, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Louis G. and Herbert M. Merritt of this city are nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at the home in Olcott tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock (D.S.T.), by the Rev. Henry A. Reed of Olcott, and burial will be in Lake View cemetery, that village.
