Vivian Plyley was the eldest child of William and Martha Leach Plyley. She had two sisters, Garnet and Mary and two brothers, Victor and Charles. She was a school teacher who graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught in Ohio and West Virginia and finished her career at Union-Scioto (Unioto) in Ross County Ohio. In 1939, she married Harold Cook. He was a widower with four sons ranging in age from six to twelve. Their names are Herman, Wayne, Charles and Edwin.
