Winston Leroy Life, 69, of Elkton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.
Mr. Life was born June 11, 1943 in Elkton and was the son of the late Hubert and Doris Wyant Life.
Mr. Life was a member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church and a United States Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam. He was also a member of Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292, Junior Order of United American Mechanics in McGaheysville and the American Legion in Harrisonburg. He retired from Miller Fuel and Southern States after numerous years of service.
On September 23, 1977 he married Carole "Jackie" Sandridge Life who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Stuart L. Oakes, Sr. of Elkton, Daniel S. Oakes and wife, Robin of Julian, NC and Tina Marie Liggett and husband, Larry of Spokane, WA; a sister, Joyce Ann McInturff and husband, C.E. "Mike" of Mesa, Arizona; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at the Mt. Olivet Christian Church in McGaheysville on Saturday afternoon, September 22, 2012 at 1:00, with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville with military rites by the Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday evening at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Life home at anytime.
