Charles J.Ronis, 82, White Birch Trailer Court, Merrill, Route 3, died Tuesday at his home. He was the retired operator of a grocery store at Gleason.

Services will be held in Merrill at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Taylor Funeral Home. The Rev. John Eldred, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m.Thursday until the hour of services Friday.

Mr. Ronis was born Sept. 18, 1895, in Latvia, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ronis. He was married May 27, 1917, in Gleason to Pauline Smedul. She died March 2, 1973. A long-time Gleason area resident, Mr. Ronis had been in the Foster Grandparents program at Lincoln Hills School.

Surviving are a son, Leonard, Gleason; a brother, George, Gleason; a sister, Mrs. Ann Nelson, Watertown; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
