James (Jim) Hobson Hodges, Sr. passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012. Born on June 14, 1926, in Marshall County, Alabama to Eleazer (Babe) Hodges and Ruby Mae McClendon Hodges.

He was employed by V. J. Elmore October 1943 to September 1944. Attended Chilton County High School and graduated class of 1944. Went into service In October 1944.He was in U.S. Army/CID and discharged as W.O.J.G. on December 18, 1946.
Worked for Sears Roebuck in Birmingham, Alabama-Sales- February 17, 1947; transferred to Winston-Salem, N.C. – Farm Store Manager-November 01, 1948, promoted to Merchandise Manager in October 1951 transferred and promoted to Zone Merchandise Manager – Memphis, Tenn. – March 1952; and, retired after 35 years from Sears Roebuck in 1981 as Senior Merchandise Manager – Atlanta, Ga.

After retiring, Mr. Hodges moved to Panama City Beach, Fla. in 1981 – Regency Towers Condominiums. Mr. Hodges became active in real estate – 1982 until passing – owner of Jim H. Hodges Realty.

His accomplishments included: 1957 – Fox Meadows Country Club, Memphis, Tennessee, President; 1968 – Flying Rebels, Atlanta, Ga., President; 1970 – Masonic Mason, Piedmont Lodge #447, Atlanta, Ga.; 1975 – Emeritus, Yaarab Temple Shriners, Atlanta, Ga., Commander of Flying Fezz; 1984 – United States Power Squadron, St. An-drews Bay, Panama City, Fla., Commander; 1984 – Florida Realtor, Panama City Beach, Fla.; 1988 – Bay Point Yacht Club, organized by Sid Gould, Wallace Hartsfield, Bill Spann, and Jim Hodges, Commodore; 1995, Jim H. Hodges Realty, Inc., Panama City Beach, Fla., owner/broker.
He is leaving behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Frances McSwain Hodges; three children – Jim H. Hodges, Jr. (Sharon Scott Hodges), Patricia Dianne Hodges, and Susan Hodges Underwood all of Panama City, Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren – Jim H. Hodges III (Georgette) of Panama City Beach, Fla., William Scott Hodges (Denise) of Jackson, Miss., and Keith Allen McRae, Jr. (Stacie) of Atlanta, Ga.; as well as six great-grandchildren - Bryce Trammel, Alexandrea and Zachary McRae of Atlanta, Ga.; Olivia and Corbin Hodges of Jackson, Miss., and Mary Frances Hodges of Panama City Beach, Fla.

He is predeceased in death by his father Eleazer "Babe" Hodges, step-mother Zelda Hodges, his mother Ruby Hodges Nunn, step-father Ed Nunn, and brother John Bailey Hodges.

Mr. Hodges loved flying and boating. He was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at Clanton City Cemetery in Clanton, Ala., on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors on Sunday evening, Septem-ber 2, 2012, at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Local arrangements will be handled by Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama City, Fla. Graveside services will be handled by Martin Funeral Home in Clanton, Ala.
