The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Memorial Church of the Nazarene, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Billy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg.
The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
Pallbearers will be Keith Thompson Sr., Keith Thompson Jr., Bill Bacot, Jerry Thompson, Dean Sanders and Tony Kittrell.
He was born Feb. 28, 1939, in Neeses, the son of the late John D. Thompson and the late Ola Sacks Thompson. He was a member of Memorial Church of the Nazarene and was retired from American Yard Products. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Marion, Quincy, Olin and Charles; and by two sisters, Vernelle and Margie Lee.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Ann Rickenbacker Thompson of the home; a son, James E. Thompson of Neeses; a daughter, Theresa (Tommy) Carson of Rowesville; grandchildren Chris and Brandi Thompson, Brandon Lancaster, Corey D. Carson, Carley A. Carson and Tiffany J. Carson; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Birchmore of Columbia, Stacey Thompson of Chester and Danny Thompson of Orangeburg; a sister, Beth Gantt of Aiken; and a very special friend, Dean Sanders.
The family will receive friends at the residence and Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the funeral home.
