Frances was the daughter of Lawrence Huston Fickling and Mabel Amanda Carlson. She grew up in the Cambridge, Henry Co, Illinois area.
Frances married Lloyd Conrad on 14 February 1935 in Cambridge. She and her husband farmed south of Bishop Hill for 60 years before moving to Cambridge in 1995.
