Sippell 85 Schuyler Street Boonville, New York Dear Madam: Reference is made to your letter in which you request the Revolutionary War record of Isaac Townsend of New York, found in the Revolutionary War records of this office. Isaac Townsend was born March 31, 1742, in South East, Dutchess County, New York; the names of his parents are not shown. While residing in South East, New York, he enlisted and served as lieutenant in the New York militia whenever called upon, amounting in all to seven months twenty five days; at one time he was under Captain Comfort Ludington and Colonel Swartout. He died September 10 1805, in South East, Dutchess County, New York Isaac Townsend married in 1776, or August 14, 1777, in South East, New York, Hannah Wixon who was born January 9, 1754, in South East, New York.

Soldier's widow, Hannah Townsend, was allowed pension on her application executed September 22 1837, at which time she was residing in South East, Putnam County, New York. She died there February 12 1844.

The names of the following children of Isaac Townsend and his wife Hannah are shown in the claim: Mary Townsend born December 29, 1777, married March 22, 1795 Ruth Townsend born May 17 1779, married Sept. 15, 1796 Rachel Townsend born December 21, 1780, married December 17, 1824 William Townsend born December 31, 1783 Phebe Townsend born December 11, 1785, married March 24, 1810 Daniel W. Townsend born February 15, 1787, married Jan, 5 1814, and in 1838 residing in South East Putnam Co., N.Y. Hannah Townsend born November 10 or 18, 1788, married August 22, 1807 Charles born July 7, 1790, married February 14, 1816 James born July 25, 1792, married Dec 6, 1814 and in 1838 living in Cold Spring, Putnam Co., N.Y. Isaac born August 6, 1797, married June 6 1830, and in 1838 a resident of South East, New York.

In 1852 the only surviving children were Daniel W., William, James and Isaac Townsend.

The names of the husbands and wives of the children were not given.
