Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on August 5, 1861, and was mustered in as a Private in Company C on August 17, 1861. He served until he was honorably discharged on September 16, 1864.∼Benjamin Celah Gauntt was a private in company C-1st. Cavalry from Aug-17-1861 to Sep-16-1864.
