Barbara June Wyant Akins, 68, of Butler, formerly of Kittanning, died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born June 24, 1939, in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Edna Marie Claypool Wyant. Mrs. Akins was a Protestant. She enjoyed bingo, game shows on TV and word search puzzles. Surviving are her husband, Norwin Akins Sr.; three sons, Terry Wyant of Oklahoma, Gary Akins of Saxonburg and Norwin Akins Jr. of Ford City; three daughters, Susan Young of Whitesburg in Armstrong County, Brenda Neal of Kittanning and Lori Buzzard of Butler; a brother, Melvin Wyant of Kittanning; a half brother, Randell Wyant of Rochester, N.Y.; a half sister, Hope Tallady of Ford City; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a sister and an infant daughter. Akins - Friends of Barbara June Wyant Akins, who died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leland Foy Sr., of Evans City, officiating. Burial will be at the Kittanning Cemetery.
