Tribute of Respect
To the Officers and Members of Lone Star Lodge No. 1, I.O.O.F.
Your Committee, to whom was referred the matter of drafting resolutions expressive of the feeling of the members, occasioned by the death of our brother Major M. A. Bingham, respectfully submit the following:
Whereas, it has pleased Diving Providence to take from our midst, and from the scenes of life, our dearly beloved, brother M. A. Bingham, a Past Grand of the Order, the first N.G. of Houston Lodge No. 50, and one of the survivors of the battle of San Jacinto; and whereas the members of this Ledge feeling unfeigned sorrow at his death, therefore,
Resolve, That in the death of Brother Bingham, our order has been deprived of an efficient and honorable member, society of one of its brightest ornaments and the community of an honest and upright man, a man whose heart and hand were ever open to the call of benevolence and charity, and whose life was a pattern of usefulness and integrity.
Resolved, That the members of this Lodge wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.
Resolved, That the relatives of our deceased brother be furnished by the Secretary with a copy of these resolutions and that the same be published in the city papers.
