PENNINGTON - Margaret J. Malone Muehleisen, 93, died on Aug. 18, 2011. Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, she moved to Pennington in 1974.
Daughter of the late Elizabeth Dooner Malone and Thomas Malone, Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Maurice J. Muehleisen; her son, Maury Muehleisen, famed lead guitarist for Jim Croce; her first grandchild, Maurie Ann Nowak; her sisters, Elizabeth Malone, Mary Serokosz, and Ann DeVaney and her two brothers, Joseph and Thomas Malone.
Margaret is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Stahlin, Mary Beth and Ray Nowak, and Ann and Gary Suabedissen; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Muehleisen, Thomas and Mary Muehleisen, Michael Muehleisen, and Robert Muehleisen; grandchildren, Beth Ann Nowak, William Stahlin, Patricia Stahlin, Lee Suabedissen, Jessica Muehleisen, Marsha and Bryan Loesch, TJ Muehleisen and Ashley Chambers; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Ava Grace and Landyn; a brother-in-law Carl Muehleisen and sisters-in-law Margaret Tallon and Anne Johnston Leeds, and many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Blessed Sacrament Grammar School and St. Mary's Cathedral High School, she was a lifetime member of the Cathedral Alumni Association. Margaret sang in St. Mary's Cathedral Choir for 52 years. She was president of the Blessed Sacrament Rosary Altar Society.
Margaret worked as a secretary for Puritan Rubber Co. and Eastern Aircraft during World War II. Returning back to work in the summer of 1967, Margaret worked as a secretary to the director of nurses and the director of nursing education at the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital.
After retiring from the NJ State Department of Education in 1981, she enjoyed praying the Rosary daily, reading, knitting, and completing crossword puzzles. Through the years, Margaret was active in several card clubs - the Saturday Night Bridge Club with her husband, the Satellites, the Fertile Myrtles, the Pinochle club, ECHO, and the Friday Afternoon club with lifelong friends. She was also a member of the St. James Tuesday Morning Art Workshop, the St. James Occasional Choir, and the Lazarus Committee and Prayer Network.
Son is Maury Muehleisen, lead guitarist for Jim Croce.
