Willie Ann Josephine "Josie" Hunter Bird was the daughter of Alton Elmor Hunter and Rachel Elisabeth Bass. She married Wiley Virgil Bird on November 11, 1911 (11/11/11), in Madison County, Alabama. To this union was born ten children - Walter Lee, Isaac Daniel, Edna Rocine (Young), Thomas Ozro, Leonard Nolen, Opal Estell (Stone), Virgil Odel, James Willard, Rachel Louise (Knight), and Lester Glenn.
She was a member of the Big Cove Free Holiness Church.
Obit:
Mrs. Josie Byrd [sic], 83, of Rt. 1, Owens Cross Roads, died Sunday at Huntsville Hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Big Cove Holiness Church.
Burial will be in Neals Chapel Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home in charge. The Rev. Lawrence Brown will officiate.
Survivors include six sons, Leonard Byrd, Williard Byrd and Lester Byrd, all of Huntsville, Daniel Byrd of Albertville, Thomas Byrd and Walter Byrd, both of Owens Cross Roads; three daughters, Mrs. Rocane Young of Huntsville, Mrs. Estelle Stone of Owens Cross Roads, and Mrs. Louise Knight of Bryant; four brothers, Brad Hunter and James Hunter, both of Huntsville, Earl Hunter of Owens Cross Roads, and Charlie Hunter of Chattanooga; three sisters, Mrs. Ola Winkles of Huntsville, Mrs. Lizzie Mae Ikard of New Hope, and Mrs. Roda Bradford of Columbus, Miss; 41 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
