Claude Alexander Bird was the son of George Marshall & Martha S. Clark Bird. He first married Lula Williams in 1893 in Walker County, Georgia; however, Lula and a child born to this marriage died in Manville, Arkansas, prior to 1900.

Claude later married Cynthia Pearl Rhodes; and to this union was born eight known children - Mary Etta, Marshall Lee, Roy Alexander, Mae Bell (Walls), Rena, Pearlie Lou (Cobb), Claude Richard, and John Ezell. Of these children, Mary Etta, Roy Alexander, Rena, and John Ezell, all died as infants.

After Pearl's death in 1916, Claude married Minnie Simms. This union brought forth six children - Maymie, Floyd C., James Herman, Paul Houston, J.D., and Lucille. J.D. and Lucille died as infants.

Claude was a member of the Free Holiness Church.

Claude A. Bird's Rites Tomorrow
Funeral services have been scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Neal's Chapel in Big Cove for Claude A. Bird, 28, who died Monday at 1 p.m. at his home on Alpine avenue, West Huntsville. He had been ill for a long time.
Rev. Willis Brown, Rev. Will Guffey and Rev. Mitchell Drake will conduct the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Wilson funeral home of Fayetteville in charge.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Minie Sims Bird; three daughters, Mrs. Maybell Walls, Mrs. Mamie Holland of Huntsville and Mrs. Pearly Cobb of Owens Cross Roads; five sons, Marshall Richard Floyd of Owens Cross Roads, and Herman and Paul of Huntsville; one sister, Mrs. Maude McPeters of Huntsville; two brothers, Joe Bird of Florida and Buford Bird of Owens Cross Roads; 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Stone, Aubrey Burke, Elbert Kent, Joe Owens, Lige Holland and Alonzo Holland.
He was a member of the Holiness church in West Huntsville.
