She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended rural schools and the Audubon High School graduating with the High School Class of 1934.
On February 26, 1941 she was united in marriage to Harvey Blohm at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Parsonage in Audubon. Five children, Earl, Alice, Janet, Barbara, and Julie were born to this union. Harvey and Marie farmed near Sharon township for six years, then moved to a farm near Exira in 1947 for 2 years. In 1949 they purchased the Plain view farm in Douglas Township northwest of Audubon where they lived for 26 years before moving into Audubon on February 26, 1975.
Marie was a homemaker all her married life and enjoyed embroidery and gardening with Harvey as a hobby. She was a long-time member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon, and had been active in the church circle since 1951. She resided in their home until he became a resident of the Friendship Home on March 8, 1997. Harvey died April 18, 1997 (only 9 days before Marie).
Survivors include a son, Earl of Audubon; three daughters, Alice Beaman of Greenfield, Janet Hendrickson of sioux Falls, S.D., and Julie Jacobsen of Salt Lake City; her sister, Amanda Hansen of Exira; a brother Niels Juel of Audubon; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Casket Bearers were Gene Mardesen, Keith Workman, Bryan Beaman, Brett Nissen, Lawrence Jacobsen, Jr., and Daniel Hendrickson.
