Betty Lou Avant, 64, of Hwy 646, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at her residence. She was born August 10, 1945 in Columbus County, NC, a daughter of the late Dock and Rosa Bell Richardson Phillips
She was also predeceased by a son, Timmy Lee Soles and a twin brother, William Thomas Phillips. She loved her sons, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. She enjoyed working in her garden.
Mrs. Avant is survived by two sons, Willie "Buddy" Thomas Soles (Becky) of Myrtle Beach and Donald Lee Soles (Susan) of Conway; two brothers, Joseph Phillips of Boone, NC and Jerry Wayne Phillips of Greens Sea; five sisters, Annie Ruth James (Clyde), Brenda Soles (Bill), Linda Soles and Bonita Locklear (Jessie) all of Tabor City, NC and Patricia Ward of Manning; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Donna Sue, Donald Jr. and Ronald Soles all of Conway and Josh, Angela and Dalton Soles all of Myrtle Beach and Elizabeth of NC; two great grandchildren, Natalee and Donald Soles III and many other family and friends who will miss her.
