He was born in Memphis, TN in 1934, the son of Gilbert and Rosie Adams.
He was a retired tow boat captain and prior to navigating the inland waters and the Great Lakes, he was a licensed barber who owned and operated a shop in Memphis, TN.
Cliff received a life saving heart transplant in 2001. He was a member of the Heart Transplant Support Group of Columbia, Mended Hearts of Joplin #146, The Scottish Rite and Fellowship Lodge #345.
Survived by his wife Celia "Kay" Adams, they met and married in Sedalia, MO in 1952. They had two sons, Thomas Russell Adams and Clifford Curtis Adams (Curt).
Preceding him in death, his parents, four brothers, two sisters and his son Thomas Russell.
Survivors include his son Curt of Joplin; sisters Shirley Lambert of Arlington, KY; and Loretta Lane (Ellis); grandson Clifford T. Adams (Lacey); great granddaughter Chloe Adams; and grandchildren, Kaitlen, Jessie, Shelby, Cody, Alexis, Lucas and Samantha; brother-in-law Charles Hurt (Peggy) of Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary.
