Funeral Services Held For Lester Crouse

Lester Crouse. son of Kathrine Smith and George Crouse. was born March 4. 1902. on a farm near Hawarden. Sioux County. Iowa. He departed this life October 2, 1980. at the Salem Lutheran Nursing Home in Elk Horn at the age of 78 years. 6 months, and 28 days.

He attended school in the Sioux County schools, graduated from the Ireton High School in 1919. and then graduated from the Mankato Business School in 1920.

He and his parents moved to Paullina, Iowa. Here Lester farmed for over 43 years. Lester operated a dairy for many years. He was instrumental in starting the Dairy Herd Improvement Association to O'Brien County. He has been a Farm Bureau member since 1924. serving the county organization in several capacities He served on the O'Brien County Fair Organization for over 10 years and served his local church in many ways.

In 1927 he married Agnes Goodmanson; she passed away in 1966. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Elna Nielsen and moved to Elk Horn.

Mr. Crouse was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Agnes.

Survivors include his wife. Elna. of Elk Horn; one son. Howard, and his wife. Carol of Paullina: 2 sisters, Mrs. Alma Brown of Nebraska City. Neb. and Mrs. Ara Bonneville of Zeeland. MI; one brother. Harry, of Brownsville. Texas; 3 grandchildren. Mrs. Debbie Jurgensen of Calumet. Kim and Christine of Paullina. He is also survived by 2 stepdaughters-Mrs. Helen Blunk of Atlantic and Mrs. Fern Knudsen of Harlan; 8 step grandchildren: many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday. October 4. 1960, at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church with Pastor Eugene Soland officiating. Casket bearers were Emmert Steen. Chris Iversen, Ludvig Larsen. Hans C. Andersen. Clarence Hansen. Vernon Mardesen, LaVerne C. Smith, and Chris L. Christensen.

Burial was October 5. 1980. at the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina with Pastor Carl Soderberg officiating with interment services. Services were conducted by the Burmeister Funeral Home. Harland. Iowa.
