James Ira Stroud, 73, Springfield, passed away Thursday, in St. John's Regional Health Center, after a long illness.

He was born Dec. 27, 1914, Webster County, to the Rev. James T. Stroud and Mary L. Robacker.

He was married to Faye R. Burks, Sept. 19, 1940, and she preceded him in death, June, 13, 1988.

He was retired from MFA Milling Plant and he attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Ed, Anoka, Minn.; a daughter, Karalyne Maples, Appleton City; two brothers, Jake, Springfield and Johnny, El Dorado Springs, Kan.; nine sisters, Emma Eckles, Oregon, Martha Stone, Wichita, Kan., Pearl Lane, Marshfield, Ruby Smith, Republic, Grace Ince, Thelma Helms, Helen Bateman and Ollie Bumgarner, all of Springfield, and Georgie Collinson, Hollister, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Marsh Funeral Home, Rogersville, with the Rev. Daman Thomas officiating. Burial will be i n Fordland Cemetery.
