Girl, 8, Dies From Gunshot
Coroner Robert Ramsey, Pembroke, reported today that the fatal shooting of Mary Nixon, 8 year old daughter of J. R. Nixon of the Clarksville Pike, appeared definitely to be accidental. He said that he planned to continue the investigation later in the day and authorized a local undertaker to remove the body.
The coroner said the report stated that Mary and her brother, Clay Nixon, 18, were playing with the shotgun in the bedroom when the gun was accidently discharged, the load of birdshot striking the girl in the head, killing her.
The survivors are her father, step-mother; two brothers, Clay and Johnnie Nixon; two sisters, Mrs. Fleeter Bozell of the Clarksville Pike and Mrs. Jesse W. Johnson of Oklahoma.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Cross Roads Christian Church for Mary Nixon, 8 year old daughter of J. R. Nixon, Christian County. She was a former resident of the Friendship community.
The child was killed Saturday by the accidental firing of a shotgun at the home, according to the corner's report.
Survivors are her father and step-mother, two brothers and two sisters.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
