Adeline E. Williams, 98, Arthur, ND, died September 16, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Arthur. Adeline was surrounded by her family and assisted by the wonderful staff at the Arthur Good Samaritan Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Adeline was born July 22, 1914 in Northwood, ND to Oscar and Thora (Mandt) Haga. She graduated from Northwood High School and, after attending Mayville State College for one year, she transferred to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where she graduated in 1936 with a degree in music and English.

In the fall of 1936, Adeline moved to Arthur to teach at the local high school. There she met Lloyd Williams, a local merchant and banker, and they married on January 7, 1939. They lived in Arthur their entire lives with winter months spent in Arizona and some of the summer at their lake home in Minnesota. Lloyd passed away in 2000 after 61 years of marriage to Adeline.

She was very active in the Arthur community. Adeline was an accomplished organist and pianist at the Arthur United Methodist Church for many years. She played for community groups, weddings, funerals, and anniversaries during those years. She served in all capacities in the Arthur United Methodist Women's organization and was active and a charter member of the Arthur Town Homemakers.

Her children and their spouses, grandchildren and spouses, and great grandchildren will claim her as the best of the best. She was loving and caring and a wonderfully gentle woman setting an example of Christian living for all.

Surviving are her children James (Barbara) Williams, Arthur; Mary (Jack) Fowler, Bismarck; Jane (Lee) Christoferson, Fargo; six grandchildren, James III (Kristen) Williams, Casselton; Scott (Jennifer) Fowler, Prior Lake, MN; Susan (Jim) Watson, Scottsdale, AZ; Jason Fowler, Arthur; Todd Christoferson, Denver, CO; Kimberly Christoferson, Gunnison, CO; nine great-grandchildren; a very special sister-in-law, Helen Williams, and many nieces and nephews.
