Vivian Eugenia West was born on Warnock Ranch in Coleman County, Texas on August 17, 1914, to Lillie Dee (Warnock) and David M. West. She spent most of her childhood traveling throughout Central and West Texas with her Mother, who was a public school teacher.

She moved to Palmdale, California to live with her sister, Joyce Edmondson, who also was a public school teacher. She attended Antelope Valley High School and was active in the drama department; she also was senior class May Day queen. Following graduation, she attended Pasadena Junior College and was active in the Pasadena Players.

About 1947 she returned to the Warnock Ranch, and met Jerry D. Dry, who owned a music store in Coleman. They were married February 29, 1948. Until 1953 lived in San Angelo where Jerry worked for the A.B. Dick Company. They were transferred to Shreveport, Louisiana and remained there until 1969, when they moved to Houston.

Vivian was a professional pianist who played at private parties, Air Force bases and country clubs in San Angelo and Shreveport. She was known for her wit and sense of humor, and was a kind, compassionate person. She was a dedicated homemaker and a fine seamstress.

She was survived by four children, Stanley Warnock, Diana Eugenia, Robin Keith and Angela Jerian Dry and husband Dennis R Garrett. Also three grandchildren Sharlot Denise and husband Doug Johnson, Angel Alysia, Shaun Daniel Garrett and wife Brandi. She has seven great-grandchildren, Jack Hunter, Hugh Walker, Quinn Douglas and Hank Deflay Johnson. Also Levi Cruz, Tyler Vaughn and Vanna Bella Garrett.
