Couple Remain Loyal to Homeland
ALHAMBRA, March 15 - The golden wedding anniversary of two native Californians, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Guess, was celebrated today at their home, 1956 Valley Boulevard, a part of the old John Guess ranch, which formerly adjoined the Lucky Baldwin ranch and which is now being subdivided.
Mr. Guess, who is 74 years of age, lays claim to being the first white child born in Los Angeles county. His birthplace was on his father’s ranch, near Montebello, the family moving to another ranch near Savannah, the present home, when he was a small boy.
Mrs. Guess, 68 years old, was Mary Arborn, and was born near Corona in Riverside county. She has spent all her life in the district between San Bernardino and Los Angeles, making only one trip out of the State and then to Tia Juana, where she was a spectator at the closing races last spring.
Mr. and Mrs. Guess were married in San Bernardino. They have two daughters, Mrs. Al Sickles and Mrs. Byron Winterer, both of Pomona; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The occasion of their fiftieth anniversary was observed with an informal reception to old friends and relatives.

Celebrate Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Guess of 1955 Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary with a picnic luncheon at their home recently. Fifty guests were bidden to celebrate with them, and many of whom were childhood friends of both Mr. and Mrs. Guess.
Beautiful flowers were sent all during the day in honor of the anniversary.
