Another Pioneer Joins Those Who Have Passed On

Alonzo Hubbard, an old time resident of this valley, and Monte Vista, died at the home of his son, Royal A. Hubbard, in the east part of town, on Tuesday morning. The funeral was held from the late residence of the deceased on Wednesday afternoon and interment made in the Monte Vista Cemetery.

Early in 1876 Mr. Hubbard and his family came into the valley and located just north of the river, about a mile west of the Gunbarrel. There for many years, he and his wife, who survives him, made their home and when old age was overtaking them, they sold their farm and moved to town, where they have since made their home with their son who is in the grocery business in this place. For many years, in the early formation of this community, Mr. Hubbard took an active part in promoting many enterprises which have been for the good of the people, and even now, his presence will be missed in those circles in which he was wont to move.

Besides his wife, he leaves three children, two sons, Frank of Montrose, Colo., Royal of this place, and daughter Mrs. John Todd of Del Norte, to mourn his loss. They have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
