He came to the United States in 1857, first settleing near Salisbury, where he lived until 1910, when he moved to Petersburg.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William Rankin, of Pleasant Plains; Mrs. John Rapp [sic], and Miss Minnie Harms, of Petersburg.
The funeral services were held at the Bethlehem German church.
The interment was made in Rose Hill.
