Alexander was born 1753 Oct 11, he was a farmer and tanner with a yard on Main St/East William Street. He owned land that became Margaret Street to the river and the part that became Springfield Cemetery including the area called "Martha's Dingle". He secured property from Martha Ferre when she sold it to purchase her wedding gown. Alexander and Margaret were admitted to First Church Dec 1785. Alexander live in the house on Main Street/corner Margaret St that was built about 1770. He first married Margaret Warner on Nov 18 1784. Margaret was born 1759 Nov 29 and died 1788 March 21 aged 29 years. Together they had two children, a son and daughter. For his second wife he married in 1790 Abigail Williams of Roxbury, MA. Abigail was a descendant of Dr. Stephen Williams of Deerfield, MA whose house was burned and his family killed or taken captive by the Indians. Abigail was born 1768 Aug 31 and died 1807 Jul 6 aged 39 yrs. Together they had 10 children, 6 sons and 4 daughters. For his third wife he married the Widow Lucy Gardner of Boston, Ma. She died 1851 May 13 aged 89 yrs. Alexander died 1843 Jul 18 aged 90 yrs.
