Loretta M. Olsen, age 110, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 25. She was the wife of the late Henry E. Olsen. Loretta was born in College Point, NY on September 6, 1902, the daughter of the late August and Emma Horn Miller. She lived most of her life in Norwalk and moved to Westport to live with her daughter Muriel O. Durner in 2001. She was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a current member of Christ Episcopal Church in East Norwalk. Loretta loved music, dancing, chocolate, the occasional sip of Bailey's and adored her family.
In addition to her daughter Muriel, survivors include her grandson Donald Durner and his wife Kathy, granddaughter Patricia Durner and her partner Cindy, great grandchildren Lindsay Madsen and Tracey Durner, a great great grandson Aiden James Madsen and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving caregiver and most trusted and dedicated friend, Naomi Smith. Loretta was predeceased by her brothers Charles, William and Alvin Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, 11 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 2 Emerson St., Norwalk 06855, with Rev. Frank Wismer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Loretta's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Sunday from 3-6 PM. Donations in her name may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
