Lucy B. James, 86, of West Newton, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in Jefferson Regional Hospital. She was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Ruffsdale, a daughter of the late William F. and Hester (Trostle) Hart. Lucy was a member of the West Newton United Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the choir and active in the women's organization. She also volunteered for many years at Westmoreland Manor and was involved with the West Newton Ministerial Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. James; a sister, Sarah Neth; and a brother, Samuel Hart. She is survived by two children, Linda L. James, of Baltimore, Md., and Kenneth W. James and his wife, Linda A., of Jefferson Hills; two grandchildren, Kristin and Robert; a sister, Barbara Fenton, of West Newton; two brothers, Robert Hart and his wife, Jane, of Victorville, Calif., and George Hart, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hart, of Jeannette, and Larine Ivory, of Plainfield, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., 901 Vine St., West Newton. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of the West Newton United Presbyterian Church with her nephew, Glenn Hart, officiating. Everyone please go directly to church. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
