Leo Leland Allison, son of William and Melissa (Ramey) Allison, was born August 1, 1899 at his parents home in the Hall community near Lamar, KS and departed this life May 13, 1985 at the Ottawa County Hospital, Minneapolis at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 12 days.
Leo received his formal education in a rural school until high school where he attended two years at Miltonvale Wesleyan Academy, Miltonvale, KS.
On Oct. 24, 1923, he was united in marriage to Jessie May Klein at the home of Rev. L.S. Cooper who lived east of the Hall community. Rev. Cooper officiated at the marriage. To this union two daughters were born, Maxene LaRee and Shirley June.
Mr. and Mrs. Allison lived on the farm until retiring from farming in 1969 at which time they moved to their present home in Delphos. Leo and Jessie loved to travel and after partial retirement and until his health prevented it, they spent winters in Texas.
Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ellery, Ralph and Lester; seven sisters, Cora, Bessie, Nora, twins Ida and Ada, Grace and Mabel; one son-in-law Bob Jacques.
He is survived by his wife Jessie of the home; daughter Maxene and husband Joe Scott of Hutchinson and their son Jerry and wife Jerelyn and two children of Fristo, MO; daughter Mrs. Shirley Jacques of Salina and her children, Kathryn of Manhattan, Paula and husband Pat Cirillo of Missoula, MT and Brent of Washington, D.C.; one sister Marie Tyler of Salina, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 16, 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Delphos with Rev. James Flick and Rev. Robert Winters officiating. Musicians were vocalists Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Allison and pianist Mrs. Joe Davidson. Casket bearers were Melvin Allison, Kenneth Allison, Robert Klein, Paul Allison, Donald Tasker and Donald Yowell. Entombment was in the Delphos Mausoleum. Shields Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
