He was born in Jennings County Sept. 8, 1855, but had resided in Shelbyville most of his life. He had always been a barber.
His marriage to Miss Huldah Jane Woods, who survives, took place Oct. 3, 1879.
Besides the widow he leaves five sons, Walter of St. Paris, O., Arthur, at home and Garrett, Carl and John Burton, all of Dayton, O., four daughters, Mrs. Effie Flory of Covington, O., Mrs. Bessie Kirksey, Mrs. Mary Fallon and Mrs. Ruth Moehlman all of Dayton, O.; thirty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one half-brother, Sam Walton, of this city.
Mr. Burton was a member of the Trinity M.E. Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Mrs. Josephine B. Huffer, pastor officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill in charge of Morris H. Sleeth funeral director.
