Billy Gene Abston, 79, of Cooper, went to his Heavenly home Friday, September 28, 2012 at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Cooper with Johnny Witherspoon officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper.

Billy was born in Lamar County, August 22, 1933 the son of E.A. Abston and Medie Jaco Abston. He lived most of his life in Delta County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cooper. He enjoyed hunting, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Abston whom he married February 12, 1954, three children; Cheryl Hughes and husband Keny of Canton, Linda Atchason and husband Shawn of Cooper, and Paul Abston and wife Lisa of Paris, two sisters; Glenda Lemon and her husband Claude of Cooper and Geneva Vaughn of Cooper, five grandchildren and eight great grandchilden.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
