Son of Thomas Hooper and unknown first wife. Enlisted Feb. 16, 1862 in Company G, 1st Battalion Arkansas Cavalry (Stirman's). Captured at Big Black River Bridge, Mississippi on May 17, 1863. Died Nov. 24, 1863 at Hammond General Hospital, Point Lookout, MD. of Diarrhea & Pneumonia.
