Kenneth Ira "Pete" Knutson was born, the third child of Lewis and Helen Knutson, in Hall, San Saba County, Texas, on the 10th of April, 1914. He joined the United States Air Force on the 23 December 1941 and served valiantly for the duration of the War. Returning to Brady when released from the Air Force he met and married Grace Stanphill on the 19 May 1946. To this marriage was born one child, a daughter, Sheila. Pete and Grace operated a grocery store for several years; and then a restaurant in Brady. Pete loved to play golf whenever he could find a few spare moments.
