PARSONS - Betty Guthridge, 96, of Parsons, died at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at the Parsons, Presbyterian Manor. She had been in failing health for several years.

She was born July 5, 1903, at Pittsburg, to William H. and Bell Flagg Stelle. She was a graduate of Pittsburg High School and Kansas State Teachers College.

She was married Wallace H. Guthridge on June 23, 1930, at Pittsburg.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Parsons, the United Presbyterian Women, Chapter BS of the PEO Sisterhood and the Round Table Club. She was a former member of the Alpha Club and the Faculty Wives Club.

Survivors includes a son, Bill Guthridge of Chapel Hill, NC, head basketball coach at the University of North Carolina; a daughter, Joan Rodkey of Overland Park; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Committal services will be 10:30 am Monday at the Memorail Lawn Cemetery at Parsons. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyteran Church at Parsons with the Rev. Michael Sydnor and the Rev. Bob Robison officiating. Friends are welcome at both services. friends may call at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Parsons on Sunday.
