ROBERT W. STAFFORD is the son of William Hobart Stafford and Mattie Graham Stafford

His formal education began in Yoakum, Texas; he graduated from Prairie View A&M college and completed advanced studies at the University of Southern California.

He taught for 11 years in New Mexico public schools and 40 years in Texas public schools. He was awarded 1958 Teacher of the Year by the Abilene Independent School District.

Robert W. Stafford was a Deacon for 50 years at Mount Zion Baptist Church; district president of the Texas State Teachers Association; member of the Lions Club in Gallup, New Mexico; the Kiwanis Club, Knights of Phythian Lords #77; and a Master Masonic Mason. He served as chairman of Taylor County Precinct 10 and was director of the West Texas Interscholastic League.

Robert W. Stafford married Sammye Marie Cooper on June 4, 1928; he is the father of Robert W. Stafford, Jr.
