R.L. Marler, resident of Ponca City, died on Sept. 29, 2012 at Ponca City Medical Center. He was 94.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
R.L. was born on June 5, 1918 in Mason, Oklahoma to Orva and Bertha (Hunley) Marler. He served our country in the United States Army and the United States Navy. After serving in WWII R.L. was honorably discharged.
While in the service, R.L. was visiting a friend in Tonkawa, and it was there that he met Margie Lee Baird. He and Margie were married on Nov. 23, 1944.
R.L. began working for Conoco and retired as Head Operator at the Power Plant after a 33 year career. After retirement he and Margie owned and operated Ceramic City for 20 years. R.L. also built telescopes as a hobby. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife Margie of Ponca City; four children, Inal Lee Keiss and her husband Fred of Lee Summit, MO; Ron Marler and his wife Cheryl of Tonkawa, Warren Marler, also of Tonkawa and LaDonna Davis and her husband Gary of Blackwell; two sisters, Alice Reed and Arlene Hicks; two brothers, Bob Marler and Troy Marler and six grandchildren, Tony, Toni, Rod, Kisha, Desire' and Brooke and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Nola Casey and Helen Snow.
