Times West Virginian 27 Sept 2012 Wilbur W. "Dub" Hawkins passed away on Monday (Sept. 24, 2012) at the age of 76 after a prolonged illness. Dub was born in Fredericktown, Pa. He attended Waynesburg College and graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in physics. He married Patricia "Patty Lou" Wilson from Fairview. Dub served in the Army and after college began working at Douglas Aircraft, which later became McDonnell Douglas. He was an engineer for McDonnell Douglas for more than 30 years, during which time he moved his family from the East Coast to the West Coast and to a small island in the Pacific. He later moved to Huntsville, Ala., where he eventually retired. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for the American Red Cross and volunteering at Good Shepard United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pat. Dub is survived by his children and grandchildren, Boyd Hawkins and his wife Kari and their children Anna and Tucker of Huntsville, Ala., Tanya Chersin and her husband Andy and their children Rachel, Andy, Sarah, Caleb and Jeremiah of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Becky Hawkins of Aliso Viejo, CA. Visitation will be held at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Fairview from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. A graveside service will follow at Toothman Cemetery in Fairview at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Larry Harker officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul Baptist Church.
