Services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home, 2805 S. Jefferson Ave., in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Mt. Pleasant, TX. Family will receive guests and visitation will be held on Thursday October 4, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.

Chester was born May 12, 1931, in Dangerfield, TX, to Ruthie and Dewey Lambert. He moved to Mt. Pleasant, TX, in 1935 where he graduated with honors in 1949 from Mt. Pleasant High School. He joined the Navy in September 1950 and served 4 years. He was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer, Second Class in 1954. Chester married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Jerry Lou Campbell, on October 4, 1952. He attended Kilgore Junior College, where he studied math and science.

In 1957, Chester and Jerry moved to Midland, TX, where he was employed by Rotary Engineering Company and worked mostly on wildcat oil wells throughout the Midcontinent area. In 1964, they moved to Canadian, TX, where he worked for Triple S Logging Service of Amarillo. In 1968, he was employed by Baker & Taylor Drilling Company in Spearman, TX, as a geological engineer. He moved to the Amarillo Office of Baker & Taylor in 1973, where he was promoted to Vice President of Geology, Drilling Contracts, and Production Supervision. Chester's expertise in geology led to the location and drilling of the first producing oil well on the J Taylor Ranch in Oldham County. This discovery
was subsequently named "Lambert Field", which is still producing oil to this day. In 1989, he joined JA Whittenberg III as Operations Manager for J.A.W. Oil Company. After the sale of J.A.W. Oil Company, he was retained by the Catherine Coble Whittenberg Trust as an oil and gas consultant, where he remained employed until his death. He was a past member of the Panhandle Geological Society, Petroleum Engineers of the AIME, Regional Director of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, Vice President of Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association and was an active member of the Panhandle Landmans Association.

Chester was passionate about hunting and fishing and spent many hours at his ranch and lakehouse with his family. Chester accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 16. Chester's guiding principle in life and his proudest accomplishment outside that of his family was that he lived by the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Ruthie and Dewey Lambert, a brother, Gene Lambert, a sister, Dorothy Lambert Henson, and an infant daughter Karen Jan.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Jerry Lou Lambert of Amarillo, TX, and their children, Connie and Mark Roark of Granbury, TX, Sharon and Wendell Dobbs of Gordonville, TX, and Danny Lambert of Amarillo, TX. One of his joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren Jerilynn Roark Hedger (Chance), Jill Roark Walker (Kameron), Jeremy Roark, Joshua Johnston, Jana Johnston Henry (Jeff), Jerrod Jeffcoat, Rachel Lambert Walker, Rusty Lambert and Rebecca Lambert. He also had 12 great grandchildren and many precious nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks
to BSA Hospice for their tenderness, dignity, and respect shown to Chester during his illness. It will never be forgotten.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312; or BSA Hospice, Olivia's Angels, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79105.
