Malvina Edens was the daughter of John Edens & Fanny Monk. She was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee. She was first married to Elen Bloomer Herd on 15 Nov 1855 in Hawkins County, TN. Three children were born to Elen & Vina before Elen died during the Civil War. He served in the same CSA regiment as Vina's brothers James & William M Edens in Ashby's regiment. Elen died 18 Mar 1863 of pnumonia while in a Northern prison. Their children were George Washington Hurd, Mary Hurd Summey & Jefferson Davis Hurd.

Vina married again on 5 Jan 1865 to William Morgan Edens in Hawkins County, Tennessee. This William Morgan Edens had served in the Neal's unit with Vina's brothers Robert & Pitser. William Morgan Edens & Vina raised her children by Elen Hurd, and added more of their own children: Absalom Ap Edens; Wiley Edens; Andrew Jackson Edens; Emeline Edens; Catherine Ann Edens Phillips Bishop; Cora Belle Edens Dean.
Malvina also called Vina does not appear on any of the headstones but she is said to be burried in the Old Jennings Cemetery and I was told that this was the Ruddick Cemetery so I have included her memorial here. Her grave may be the Edens headstone that reads 'Mother'.
