---Berniece M. Avery, 62, of 14012 Verona Rd., Marshall Township, died Sunday evening at Leila Hospital in Battle Creek following a lengthy illness. She had been a patient there since April 16.
---Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
---Mrs. Avery was born in Fredonia Township May 31, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Myrtie Katz. She has lived in the area all of her life. She was married April 22, 1939, in Bryan, Ohio to Myron Avery Sr. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Michigan Draft Horse Association, the Calhoun County Agricultural and Industrial Society and the American Clydesdale Association.
---Survivors include her husband, Myron; a son, Myron Jr. of Marshall Township; a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Corlinda) Huffman of Homer; four grandchildren, Tyler and Kelly Avery and Jimmy and Courtney Huffman; a sister, Mrs. Doris Volgraff of Marshall; and nieces and nephews. A brother, Wayne Volgraff, preceded her in death.
