Laura McCain Calhoun, 92, of Hillcrest Nursing Home, formerly of Curdsville, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012.. She was born March 6, 1920 in Daviess County to the late John and Mary E. Johnson McCain. She retired from General Electric. Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Calhoun, one brother, six sisters and grandson, Clark Adams. She is survived by her son, Ronnie (Lois) Calhoun, of Owensboro, daughters, Shelia (Howard) Hawthorne, of Auburn, GA and Cindy Rice of Louisville, KY, three grandsons, Scott (Susan) Calhoun of Owensboro, Clay Adams of Metairie, LA, Brad Rice of Louisville, KY, four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Bill Calhoun, sister-in-law, Margie Calhoun and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home South Chapel with David Blair officiating and burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy to the American Cancer Society , 1302 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church, 1215 Scherm Road, Owensboro, KY 42301
