"A Boy Killed by Lightning – Last Tuesday afternoon, a son of Samuel Althouse, residing a short distance from town, was loading wheat on a wagon. During the thunder shower he was struck by lightning and instantly killed. Chris Brunni, who was pitching sheaves, was knocked down and when he recovered, saw horses running and the wagon on fire at some distance from him in the field. The boy was thrown from the wagon as well as part of the wheat. He was instantly killed. His age was a little over twelve years. His funeral took place on Friday."
