Christopher Marsh Quick

Christopher Marsh Quick, 73, passed away on August 22, 2012 in La Verne, CA. Chris was born on March 24, 1939 in Mt. Carmel, IL, the son of the late Harry R. and Fern I. Wood-Quick and brother of William R. Quick of Allendale.

After graduating from Mt. Carmel High School - Class of 1957, Chris joined the United States Air Force. His military career consisted of 4 years of active duty and 2 years of reserve service during which time he served as a communication specialist, received a good conduct medal and was honorably discharged in July, 1963 in Riverside, CA. During this time, he married MCHS classmate, Nancy Smith. They had two daughters; Kassandra Lee, born in 1961 and Kristina Michelle, born in 1969. They lived in La Verne, CA and later in Diamond Bar, CA.

Chris had careers in retail, marketing, sales and security. He was actively involved with his passion for high school and college athletics by coaching, refereeing and umpiring for the California Interscholastic Federation, Rio Hondo College and the University of LaVerne. He was an avid sports enthusiast and avid reader until the end of his life.

He is survived by: his daughter Kassandra (George) Quick-Vana, and their daughters Allison and Stephanie of La Verne, CA, his daughter Kristina (Dan) Quick-Marshall, and their son Seth of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, brother William R. (June) Hughes-Quick of Allendale, IL and their sons, Bill (Debbie) Quick and their son Cameron of Olympia, WA and Rev. Chris Quick of Marshall, IL.

A graveside service with full military honors and bagpipes will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, on Monday, October 8th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., with his nephew, the Rev. Chris Quick officiating. The service will be held at the Quick family plot just inside the south gate. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.
