Michael "Mike" Royse passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born August 5, 1943 in Terre Haute to Frank and Evelyn (Faulds) Royse. He married Donna Benefield on November 5, 1966. Mike proudly served in the United States Navy for six years on active duty as a 2nd class radioman and served in the Naval Reserves in Terre Haute until 1984. During his service he was stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland; Naples, Italy; and Midway Island. After the Navy, he worked at PSI for 30 years, retiring in 1999.
Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna, and their three children Eric Royse of Indianapolis, Michelle (John Shultis) Royse of Herndon, VA and Stefanie (Jay) Knott of Terre Haute. Other survivors include: a brother, Randy (Jane) Royse of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Devan Knott, Ethan Knott, Kamryn Knott, and Olivia Shultis; nephew Brian Royse and great-nephew Jacob Royse; and numerous cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 16 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 17 at the funeral home with Pastor David Rockhill officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by VFW Post 972.
