Bettie was an enthusiastic walker, a fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and loved going to "the Boat". She was a member of the "Tuesday Night Groupies" and St. Rita Catholic Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband Jack Parker Michels, her parents, Charles and Bertha Tillman Welsh, and two siblings, her twin sister Ruth Bray and brother Charles Welsh.
Survivors include her children, Gregory Michels, Tony Michels (Tyler), Jenni Pitman (Walker), Robin Goebel (Mike), Matt Michels (Pam) and Stephanie Rockhold; two sisters, Lucille Tierney and Rosemary "Honey" Bizzell; twelve grandchildren, Phil, Nate, Bryan, Jack, Jonathan, Jessica, Amanda, Nic, Sara, Bethany, Zachary and Ethan; four great-grandchildren, Halley, Natalee, John and Jackson.
Bettie's family would like to say a special thank you to the caregivers at Hosparus and also to Dr. Josephine Gomes for the outstanding care and concern shown to her.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, June 15th at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 16th, from St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Highway at 10 a.m., followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Bettie had survived two brain Aneurysms and later died from Alzheimer's disease.
