HARPER WARD – John Max Baugh, 84, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Ogden Regional Medical Center from complications of West Nile Virus.
Max was born April 10, 1928 in Brigham City, UT; he was the first child of Oliver Ferguson Baugh and Edith Lillian Burt. He was raised in Brigham City and Harper Ward, UT. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1946 and also attended Utah State University.
Max married Leah Grant October 22, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away June 26, 2011.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Max was a farmer and rancher who loved the land and his cattle. He was proud of his registered Angus cattle he raised on the farm. He was a member of the Utah Cattlemen's Association and served as president of the Utah Angus Association.
Max drove school bus for many years for the Box Elder County School District retiring in 1990. He made many lifelong friends with the students he transported.
He will be remembered for his work ethic, common sense, honesty, sense of humor, infectious laugh, and his great love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Max is survived by his brother, Burt (Linda) Baty, Ogden, UT; and his sister, Adele Burton, Harper Ward, UT.
He is survived by his six children: Kathryn (Bing) Parkinson, Carey, ID; Kenneth (Carol) Baugh, Honeyville, UT; Barbara (Douglas) Adams, Brigham City, UT; Brent (Barbara) Baugh, Bear River City, UT; John (Linda) Baugh, Brigham City, UT; David (Linda) Baugh, Bountiful, UT. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Max is also preceded in death by his parents, wife; sister, Susan Duke; and brother-in-law, Tom Burton.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Stake Center, 620 N. 300 E., Brigham City.
Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in Calls Fort Cemetery.
