CAREY - Paul E. Conley, 319 Frederick St., Carey, died at his residence at 4:27 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004. He was 73. Born in Johnson County, Ky., on Oct. 1, 1930, he was a son of Lindsey and Cora L. (Arms) Conley. His wife Beatrice, whom he married in February 1949, preceded him in death. He married Doris G. Secrist-Brown in July 1960. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Paul, Salyersville, Ky.; and Danny, Carey; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank, Pleasant Lake, Mich.; and Billy Ray, Jackson, Mich.; three sisters, Opal Marshall, Marion; Ella Ree Smith, Carey; and Wanda Resor, Pleasant Lake, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Dean and James Conley; and two sisters, Fay Higginbotham and Joyce Ann Stanley. Mr. Conley retired as a truck driver for Findlay Truck Line Inc. in Findlay. He attended Grace United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. Mr. Conley served in the U.S. Army from 1947-53. He was a charter member of the Carey VFW Black-Lamberjack Post No. 3759. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home with the Rev. James Sharrett officiating. Burial will be in Wharton-Richland Union Cemetery, Wharton. Visitation is at the funeral home today from 2-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of Wyandot County in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W.
