Gloria Jean Armstrong, 36, died Monday, May 25, 1998, following a sudden illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka and was enrolled in the G.E.D. program at St. Johns River Community College. She faithfully attended Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and was also actively involved with the City-wide Youth Movement. She enjoyed working with youth, singing and playing the piano. In spite of life's obstacles, she had high hopes in attaining her G.E.D. this year.
Her adopted parents, Deacon Cain and Mrs. Mildred Armstrong, as well as her grandparents, Marvin and Carrie Smith and Drucilla Brayboy, and her sister, Drucilla Brayboy, preceded her in death.
To cherish her memories are her mother, Dorothea Smith of Palatka; father, James Edward Brayboy of Baltimore, Md.; step-father, Robert Crowley of Palatka; sisters, Patricia Ann Smith, Deloris Briggs and Jannie Hamilton, all of Palatka, and Rosemary Brayboy of Baltimore, Md.; brother, Tony Wendell Brayboy and adopted brother, Cain Armstrong Jr., both of Palatka; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Clarence Mallory, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery in East Palatka.
