FRANK BETZ SUDDENLY EXPIRES.
Mr Frank Betz, the well-known lumber man, died suddenly about 7 o'clock last evening at his home on Orchard Street. He was enjoying comparatively good health & had partaken of a hearty supper. He went upstairs & came back down in a few moments, when he fell on the floor & expired almost immediately. Mr Betz was 70 years of age & was one of Campbell Counties oldest & most respected citizens. He served as a member of Council for a number of years & was also Magistrate for a term of years. He was engaged for the past several years, up to the time of his death, with his two sons in the lumber business. He was a member of the German Pioneer Association & also several other benevolent associations. He was a brother of Sheriff Louis Betz & uncle of Joseph Betz, candidate for County Clerk. Heart disease is supposed to have been the cause of his death.

SUDDEN DEATH OF FRANK BETZ
Frank Betz, the well-known lumber merchant, died suddenly last Saturday night. He was on the streets until about 6 o'clock in the evening, when he went to his home, 1112 Orchard Street, ate his supper, walked up stairs, & when he came down to the family room to take his chair, he fell to the floor & was dead before help could reach him. Mr Betz had been troubled in the last few years with heart disease, & it is announced that his death was caused by paralysis of the heart. Mr Betz was about 67 years old & had lived in Newport for nearly 50 years, having been engaged in the lumber business for a great portion of that time. He was a brother of Sheriff Louis Betz & of the late Matthew Betz. He leaves a wife & eight grown children. The funeral took place Tuesday morning at St Stephen's Church. Rev Father Merschman officiated at Requiem Mass, after which Rev Father Brossart, a relative of the deceased, preached the sermon. The pallbearers were Steven Cromer, A J Winters, T A Widrig, & Francis Reichman.
