Vernon Adair Beck, 86, of Greenwood died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at his residence. Visitation will be 9a.m. to 10a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home followed by services at 10a.m. in Wilson & Knight Chapel. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Dr. Jim Phillips will officiate and will be assisted by Jim Campbell.
Mr. Beck was retired from Parham Electronics. He served in the United States Army and while in the military he received American Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Beck was a member of the VFW. He attended the University of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Beck.
He is survived by a daughter Patti Campbell of Greenwood, MS and two sons Ronald Beck of Hamburg, AR and Carl Beck of Brandon, MS. His brother Jimmy Carl Beck of Germantown, TN. Three sisters Betty Wallis of Lakeland, TN, Mary Louise Parks of Oxford, MS and Juanita Sharpe of Sardis, MS. Five grandchildren Erin Hodges of Greenwood, MS, Caroline Campbell of Greenwood, Nolan Beck of Lake Village, AR, Ginger Beck of Little Rock, AR, and Chip Beck of Brandon, MS. Three great grandchildren Jane Claire Prewitt of Canton, MS, Kaylee Beck of Hamburg, AR and Schaefer Hodges of Greenwood, MS.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Thompson, Sam Ferguson, Gary Minyard, George Ellis, Chip Beck, Nolan Beck, Heath Hodges and Jeff Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be the Morning Coffee Drinkers at McDonald's.
